The No. 1 Car Game on the Facebook Platform Brings Electric Mobility to Social Gamers

LONG BEACH, Calif. Feb. 26, 2013Cie Games – the makers of Car Town, the world’s leading social and mobile automotive-based game – is bringing electric power to the Facebook platform, thanks to partnerships with Motor Trend Magazine and Tesla Motors. Beginning today, the streets of Car Town will be a lot greener, and cooler, with the inclusion of Tesla Motors’ Model S electric sedan, the first Motor Trend Car of the Year winner not powered by an internal combustion engine. Players can own the Model S by visiting the Motor Trend Facebook fan page and following the instructions there to add this impressive vehicle to their virtual car collection.

“The 2013 Car of the Year is coming to Car Town, thanks to our fan page promotion and partnerships with Motor Trend and Tesla,” said Dennis Suggs, president and CEO, Cie Games. “The Tesla Model S is a game-changer, combining superior vehicle engineering with advanced electric powertrain technology, and any true automobile aficionado will want this kind of horsepower in their stable. We’re proud to be offering our first Tesla straight from the pages of Motor Trend to the virtual garages of our car-loving players.”

The debut of the Model S electric sedan is the latest in a scheduled series of innovative in-game integrations developed by Cie Games to promote the Motor Trend and Tesla Motors brands to a new audience. Other features include an in-game pop-up of Motor Trend magazine, featuring new car releases and monthly Motor Trend community design contests, in which three finalists will receive an exclusive Motor Trend branded Scion FR-S. This special car can only be earned through the community contests, which will range from players turning their garage into Motor Trend headquarters to designing a Motor Trend branded truck.

“Cie Games has proven that it’s one of the best development partners to work with on successfully integrating a brand into a Facebook game in a meaningful way,” said Edward Loh, editor-in-chief, Motor Trend magazine. “Lending the use of the Motor Trend name and the Tesla Model S electric luxury sedan, our 2013 Car of the Year, to Car Town is testament to what a great game it is for gearheads everywhere.”

Car Town is a social game in which players collect and customize virtual cars in garages of their own design; participate in challenges pulled straight from popular movies and TV shows, such as Ghostbusters, “Top Gear” and Back to the Future; and earn iconic cars from each of those franchises.

“Model S, the world’s first premium electric vehicle, is one of the most technologically advanced cars on the road,” said Shanna Hendriks, communications manager, Tesla Motors. “Integrating it into Car Town allows us to introduce players to the benefits of Model S in a unique and virtual way.”

Car Town is one of the leading games on the Facebook platform, with nearly 50 million lifetime players, and the game’s recently launched sequel for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Car Town Streets, has broken into the Top 10 Games chart on the App Store in multiple countries.
